Fundraising Director

Position Overview

Reports To: Executive Director 
Employment Type: Full-Time
Location: Nairobi, Kenya. Remote and Hybrid


The Fundraising Director will be responsible for securing the financial resources necessary to ensure the sustainability and growth of all organizational programs. This role requires a creative and strategic leader who can identify funding opportunities, cultivate donor relationships, and organize impactful campaigns.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Create annual and long-term fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals and identify key funding priorities for the programs run by the organization.
    1. Create compelling donor appeals, grant proposals, sponsorship packages.
    2. Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, including annual appeals, online crowdfunding, and special events.
    3. Organize donor appreciation and engagement events to strengthen relationships.
    4. Research, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies and ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders on grant activities and outcomes.
    5. Build relationships with potential major donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners and maintain a database of individual donors and funding organizations.
    6. Recruit, onboard, and supervise fundraising volunteers and staff as needed and provide training and support to ensure effective campaign execution.
    7. Track and analyze fundraising data to measure progress and adjust strategies and prepare financial reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
      1. At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals. Previous working experience with a Nonprofit is an added advantage.
      2. Strong strategic planning and organizational skills as well as exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including grant writing.
      3. Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems.
      4. Creative problem-solving skills and adaptability.
      5. Ability to work flexible hours, and willingness to travel.
